Israeli media announced on Tuesday morning that voting has begun to elect the 120 members of the Knesset, under a proportional representation system with 36 competing lists.
The reports noted that polling stations for the 26th Knesset elections will close at 10:00 p.m. local time today. Two Arab lists are participating: the United List, led by Mansour Abbas, and the Joint List, which comprises three parties led by Yousef Jabareen.
The elections take place three years after the genocide waged by the Israeli occupation since October 7, 2023, which continues to this day.
Two camps are competing in these elections. The first camp is led by current Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, head of the Likud party and the religious parties Shas, Yehudut HaTorah, Otzma Yehudit, and the Religious Zionism alliance.
The second camp, known as the “Change Camp,” includes the Yesh Atid party, led by Gadi Eisenkot, along with the Tzomet–Gesher–Meretz alliance, the Democratic Party, Yisrael Beiteinu, and the two Arab lists.
