Syria: Opening communication channels with Jordan regarding airstrikes on Daraa and conducting investigations into the circumstances

The Syrian government stated that relevant authorities are closely monitoring developments on the ground in the south following airstrikes carried out by the Royal Jordanian Air Force, which resulted in casualties, including civilians and children. It noted that no prior coordination had been conducted with Damascus regarding this military operation.

The statement, as reported by the official Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA), added: “We reaffirm our solidarity with the affected Syrian families and our full support in this tragedy. We extend our sincere condolences to the families of the martyrs and our best wishes for the swift recovery of the wounded. We emphasize that relevant authorities are monitoring the situation of those affected and their needs, and are working to provide the necessary support.”

It continued: “Relevant authorities have launched thorough investigations to ascertain all the circumstances surrounding this targeting, while simultaneously opening and maintaining communication channels with our brothers in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to discuss the situation and underscore the importance of joint field and security coordination for any steps concerning border areas, in order to safeguard the sovereignty of the Syrian Arab Republic and preserve the security and stability of the two brotherly countries.”
