The Deputy Ambassador of the Republic of Yemen to Kuwait, Absam Saeed, affirmed her country’s appreciation for the humanitarian role played by the State of Kuwait in supporting the Yemeni people and assisting those affected by the current humanitarian situation, praising the relief and development efforts undertaken by the Kuwait Red Crescent Society, which reflect the deep fraternal and historical ties between the two countries and their peoples.
Saeed told KUNA yesterday, following her meeting with the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Kuwait Red Crescent Society, Ambassador Khaled Al-Mughamis, at the Society’s headquarters, that the visit aims to explore ways to enhance humanitarian cooperation and provide relief assistance to internally displaced persons from the areas of Taiz, Aden, and Marib, whose numbers are estimated at around 300,000 to 400,000 amid growing humanitarian needs that include food supplies, health services, medicines, and shelter essentials.
She explained that the difficult humanitarian conditions faced by displaced persons necessitate intensifying relief efforts and expanding the scope of response to urgent needs, thereby contributing to alleviating their suffering and improving their living conditions, especially given the challenges confronting affected families, many of which lack basic necessities of life.
She added that the Kuwait Red Crescent Society is quick to reach out to those in need and affected individuals across various regions in Yemen, commending the positions of the State of Kuwait, its leadership, people, and humanitarian institutions in supporting their brothers in Yemen, and highlighting the aid provided, which reflects values of solidarity and human compassion.
Saeed renewed her thanks and appreciation to the State of Kuwait for its continued humanitarian support to her country, emphasizing the importance of continuing cooperation and coordination with Kuwaiti relief institutions to meet the needs of displaced persons and enhance efforts aimed at mitigating the repercussions of the humanitarian crisis.
For his part, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Kuwait Red Crescent Society, Khaled Al-Mughamis, affirmed in a statement to KUNA that the State of Kuwait has always stood by its brothers in the Republic of Yemen, driven by fraternal bonds and historical relations between the two countries. He stressed the Society’s commitment to continuing the provision of humanitarian aid and implementing relief and development projects to support the most vulnerable groups.
Al-Mughamis said the meeting discussed ways to enhance humanitarian cooperation and review relief needs and priorities in Yemen, particularly regarding the provision of urgent assistance to displaced persons and affected families, thereby strengthening response efforts and ensuring that aid reaches eligible beneficiaries.
He clarified that Kuwaiti humanitarian work in Yemen has not been limited to providing emergency relief but has extended over the past years to include sustainable development projects in the sectors of health, education, water, sanitation, food, shelter, and orphan care, contributing to improving the living conditions of beneficiaries.
He noted that the Kuwait Red Crescent Society continues its humanitarian efforts in coordination and collaboration with relevant authorities and humanitarian partners to identify priorities and meet the basic needs of the most affected families, reaffirming Kuwait’s enduring humanitarian approach of standing with and supporting the Yemeni people in facing difficult circumstances.
