Abdul Karim Ahmad: Dr. Khalid Al-Suwaidan, President of the Kuwait Bar Association, stated that Kuwait is undergoing a crucial phase of legislative and judicial development to keep pace with economic and technological changes, commending the efforts of Justice Minister and Advisor Nasser Al-Sameet and the ministry’s leadership in advancing legislative reform and strengthening cooperation with the Kuwait Bar Association.

Al-Suwaidan noted in an interview with “Al-Anbaa” on the sidelines of the Second Kuwaiti Lawyers Conference, held under the theme “The Global Summit of Innovative Lawyers,” that the development of legislation, including the new Law Regulating the Legal Profession, does not mark the end of the road but rather the beginning of effective implementation and tangible impact that benefits lawyers, judges, and litigants. He emphasized the association’s aspiration to continue cooperation within the national plan for legislative development and updating laws, particularly this law, to align with digital transformation.

Regarding the conference’s focus on artificial intelligence, Al-Suwaidan explained that it serves as a supportive tool that enhances lawyers’ efficiency and professional performance, stressing that a machine’s ability to analyze data cannot replace a lawyer’s conscience, wisdom, and experience in defending rights.

He pointed out that the rapid advancement in legal tools and digital transformation require adherence to professional and ethical standards that protect both lawyers and clients and preserve trust in the legal profession, reaffirming the stability of the profession’s core values, foremost among which are integrity, confidentiality, independence, and responsibility.

He added that a strong legal profession requires modern legislation, an evolving judiciary demands effective procedures, and the delivery of justice necessitates collaboration and integration among all stakeholders in the judicial system.

He noted that successful professional institutions do not wait for change but prepare for it and participate in shaping it, explaining that the stages of the “Lawyer Vision” initiative aim to translate the aspirations of male and female lawyers into practical projects and initiatives that contribute to the profession’s development and keep pace with its future requirements.
