To enhance women’s awareness of the importance of regular breast cancer screenings and encourage them to engage in physical exercise, Lebanese Ambassador’s wife Mona Al-Khoury organized the second edition of a sports awareness event in observance of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, in collaboration with the Lebanese Women’s Council in Kuwait. More than 85 women gathered the previous day in the embassy courtyard, in an atmosphere characterized by warmth, love, and optimism.
In a welcome address, Al-Khoury emphasized that early detection and regular screenings can help save lives, stressing that empowering women begins by providing them with accurate information that enables them to make informed decisions about their health. She noted that well-being extends beyond physical health to include mental and emotional health, which are crucial for achieving balance and living healthier lives.
She expressed the embassy’s commitment to making this initiative an annual tradition that highlights women’s health and raises awareness about breast cancer and the importance of early detection, based on the belief that awareness and knowledge constitute the first line of defense against the disease.
The event featured an interactive fitness session led by trainer Rania Al-Khatib, who stressed that regular exercise is a fundamental and important component of women’s health, particularly after the age of 40, due to its role in promoting overall health and helping prevent certain types of cancer, including breast and endometrial cancer. Al-Khatib encouraged women to engage in various forms of exercise, especially resistance training, which is vital for preserving muscle mass and offsetting the gradual loss of muscle with aging.
She expressed her pleasure in participating in the event, organized by the Lebanese Embassy for the second consecutive year in observance of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, noting that such initiatives contribute to raising women’s health awareness and encouraging them to take care of their health.
During the event, participants wrote short messages and posted them on a “Wish Tree” as a gesture of moral support and wishes for recovery for every woman facing the challenge of breast cancer.
