Darine Al-Ali, Director General of the General Administration of Road Engineering Affairs, and Eng. Khaled Al-Asimi, conducted an inspection tour to monitor the progress of works under the maintenance contract for the Abdali and Jahra roads, and to assess on-site the implementation of plans for fundamental maintenance of the road network.
The tour included monitoring ongoing maintenance works on the Jahra Road heading toward Kuwait City, specifically in the area located between stations (22+350) and (24+220), opposite the city of Saad Al-Abdullah. This phase involved laying a model (II) asphalt layer treated with polymer-modified bitumen to enhance road efficiency and its capacity to withstand high loads and weights. According to the approved schedule, all maintenance works for this phase are scheduled to be completed by November 3 next year.
On another note, as part of the Ministry’s efforts to develop infrastructure in residential areas and improve the efficiency of service networks, the Ministry of Public Works, in coordination with the Central Tenders Committee, is preparing to tender for the study, design, and supervision of infrastructure improvement works in the areas of Rawda, Adiliya, and Khalidiya.
Through the implementation of this project, the Ministry aims to improve the level of infrastructure in these three areas by preparing the necessary technical studies, developing appropriate designs for development and improvement works, and supervising the execution of works in accordance with approved requirements and technical specifications, thereby contributing to enhancing the efficiency of facilities and services and improving their performance levels.
The preparatory phase of the project is expected to include preparing studies and designs that define the nature of the required works and their implementation priorities, aligned with the needs of the targeted areas, paving the way for completing the necessary procedures to tender and award the works in accordance with prevailing regulations.
Regarding the tender procedures, the Central Tenders Committee, during its recent meeting, reviewed letter No. 2601 from the Ministry of Public Works, which contained the required amendments on the matter, and decided to return the case to the Ministry again due to its failure to respond within the specified period according to Committee Decision No. 30 issued during its meeting No. 2026/82.
In the same context, the Ministry of Public Works continues to implement infrastructure improvement works in several residential areas. Currently, similar works are being carried out in the Yarmouk and Cordoba areas, as part of infrastructure development and service improvement efforts in existing neighborhoods.
