State Minister for Youth and Sports Affairs, Dr. Tariq Al-Jalahma, affirmed the state’s commitment to supporting community-based sports initiatives that encourage various segments of society to engage in physical activity and promote sports as a lifestyle, thereby positively impacting individual health and the quality of life in Kuwaiti society.

This statement was made by Al-Jalahma in a press interview with KUNA following his participation in the “Saturday Gathering” event, organized by the Kuwait Cycling Club at the Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Bridge, with the participation of a group of cycling enthusiasts and fans.

Al-Jalahma said that such initiatives represent a distinctive model of community sports, as they provide opportunities to bring together different age groups around a shared sporting activity, contribute to spreading the culture of physical exercise, and enhance positive communication and interaction among members of society.

He added that the participation of youth and athletes in these activities reflects a growing awareness of the importance of sports and their role in building a healthy and vibrant society, emphasizing that support for such initiatives aligns with the general policies of the Public Authority for Youth and Sports aimed at broadening the base of sports participation and encouraging members of society to adopt healthy and sustainable lifestyles.

He noted that cycling is among the sports that combine physical activity with community interaction, commending the efforts of the Kuwait Cycling Club in organizing these gatherings and its role in attracting amateurs and encouraging them to engage in sports.

Al-Jalahma stressed that sports are not limited to competitions and championships, but represent a cultural phenomenon that contributes to enhancing public health and consolidating positive values, underscoring the importance of coordinated efforts between sports institutions and youth initiatives to provide more opportunities that make sports an integral part of daily life.

He expressed his pleasure at the cyclists’ ride across the Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Bridge, praising the sportsmanship and enthusiasm displayed by participants, and wishing for the continuation of such initiatives that promote sports and community engagement in the country.

It is worth noting that the “Saturday Gathering” event is organized by the Kuwait Cycling Club with the aim of bringing together cycling enthusiasts and fans, encouraging participation in the sport, and promoting the culture of cycling within Kuwaiti society.
