AbdulKarim Al-Abdullah: Health Minister Dr. Ahmed Al-Awadi stressed that investing in national cadres, developing them, and empowering them scientifically and professionally constitutes a fundamental pillar and priority for developing the healthcare system and achieving sustainable development of medical services in the State of Kuwait.

Minister Al-Awadi, in his speech during the opening of the “Second Internal Medicine Conference,” organized by Adan Hospital, emphasized that scientific conferences and forums embody the commitment to consolidating the culture of scientific research and continuing medical education, and provide a professional platform for exchanging expertise and discussing the latest developments in the diagnosis and treatment of internal medicine diseases.

He pointed to the 45-year journey of Adan Hospital, since the commencement of its health services in 1980 and its official opening in 1981, praising the hospital and its Internal Medicine Department for their development and expansion into sub-specialties, infrastructure modernization, and enhanced integration among departments. He added that the Internal Medicine Department at Adan Hospital has witnessed qualitative leaps, including the development of clinical hematology, neurological diseases, strokes, and movement disorders services, as well as specialized clinics for obesity, gastroenterology, pulmonology, and geriatrics, alongside contributing to the establishment of clinical protocols and early detection and prevention programs.

He continued by noting that in light of the rapid advancement of precision medicine, digital technologies, and artificial intelligence applications, the importance of such gatherings lies in linking knowledge with clinical practice and enabling physicians to keep pace with the latest developments, thereby serving patients and elevating service quality. He stressed that “however much modern technologies may offer, the qualified physician capable of sound judgment and clinical decision-making remains the indispensable foundation of human care.”

For his part, Dr. Khalil Shaweek, Head of the Internal Medicine Department at Adan Hospital and Chairman of the Conference, said during the opening of the conference, which is being held for the second consecutive year, that the primary objective since the launch of the first edition was to create an opportunity that brings together physicians from various specialties to exchange expertise and keep abreast of the latest developments.

He clarified that scientific gatherings are not limited to delivering lectures and discussion sessions, but also provide space for direct interaction among colleagues and the benefit of shared clinical experiences, which directly and positively reflects on the quality of care provided to patients.
