UK and France Strengthen Nuclear Defense Cooperation with Joint Air Exercise

The British Ministry of Defence announced the execution of a joint air exercise with France as part of efforts to strengthen nuclear defense cooperation between the two countries. In a statement, the ministry said that Royal Air Force Typhoon fighter jets participated for the first time in a French nuclear air exercise codenamed “Romeo,” alongside French Rafale fighter jets, over the Mediterranean Sea on October 20 and 21. The exercise launched from the Saint-Dizier Air Base in France and simulated a mission to carry out a nuclear strike. The ministry confirmed that no nuclear weapons were used during the exercise, emphasizing that the operation was conducted under strict safety and security protocols. It further clarified that the exercise aimed to enhance operational coordination and readiness, enabling both countries to respond more effectively to serious security threats.
