Kuwait maintained their top spot in the Zain Premier League after a convincing 6-2 victory over Al-Thaqafa in today’s match, part of the sixth round. With the win, Kuwait moved up to 16 points, while Al-Thaqafa remained winless and at the bottom of the table after six consecutive defeats.
In the first half, Kuwait, as usual, started with intense pressure on Al-Thaqafa’s goal and managed to score four goals by the end of the period. The first goal came from a powerful shot by Faisal Zayed, which goalkeeper Naif Al-Azmi saved but the ball fell to Yassin Al-Kheneisi, who slotted it into the net (18th minute). Amr Abdel Fattah doubled the lead with a low, driven shot from just outside the penalty area (26th minute). Al-Kheneisi added a third with a well-placed header from a cross (36th minute), and then set up Amr for Kuwait’s fourth goal, converting the chance with a powerful strike into the net (42nd minute).
In the second half, substitute Mohammed Daham extended the lead to 5-0 with a deceptive shot from inside the penalty area (56th minute). Al-Thaqafa pulled one back through Ahmed Shabib, who scored from a free-kick (62nd minute). Abdulrahman Al-Rashidi then equalized for Al-Thaqafa with a precise header (82nd minute), but Abdullah Al-Qarzaei quickly responded with a brilliant strike to restore Kuwait’s six-goal advantage (86th minute). The match was well officiated by referee Ammar Ashkanani.
