During the meeting held in Aqaba yesterday, the two sides emphasized the deep-rooted fraternal relations between the two countries and their peoples, and the need to build on these ties to expand cooperation in vital sectors such as energy, transport, trade, and investment, according to the Jordan News Agency (Petra).
The talks addressed the necessity of intensifying efforts to de-escalate tensions in the region and safeguard the security and sovereignty of Arab states. Both sides stressed the importance of enhancing coordination and consultation to contribute to regional security and stability, as well as discussing broader developments in the West Bank, Jerusalem, and Gaza. Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaybani also held a meeting with Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi.
In a post on the X platform, al-Shaybani said, “I had the honor of meeting His Majesty the King and the Deputy Prime Minister. During the meeting, I conveyed greetings from President [Bashar] al-Assad to His Majesty the King, along with best wishes for the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and its fraternal people for continued security, stability, and prosperity. We also discussed several important issues, foremost among them the development of relations between our two fraternal countries.”
Al-Shaybani added, “We emphasized the necessity of moving forward on the trilateral roadmap uniting the Syrian Arab Republic, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, and the United States of America, to reach a national solution that ensures the integrity of Syrian territory and serves the interests of the people of Suwayda Governorate.”
