The Criminal Court, presided over by Advisor Al-Duwaihi Al-Duwaihi and with the participation of Judges Badr Al-Shaheen and Ibrahim Kharibit, and with Mohammed Malallah serving as clerk, sentenced two expatriates to seven years in prison and fined them and two companies a total of 61,000 Kuwaiti dinars—5,520 dinars each for the individuals and 50,000 dinars for the two companies—with the judgment to be published in the Official Gazette and the funds confiscated. Meanwhile, the court acquitted a Kuwaiti national and an Egyptian of the charges against them.

The Public Prosecution accused the defendants of misappropriating funds from users of fake websites impersonating telecommunications companies and government entities, and of smuggling the money to another country through the two companies, as well as via cryptocurrency platforms and applications in Egypt, with the aim of evading banking scrutiny.
