Man City to Secure New Victory Against Aston Villa

Manchester City will attempt to preserve their perfect record in the English Premier League when they visit Aston Villa at Villa Park tomorrow, Saturday, in the competition’s eighth round, despite facing a mounting injury crisis.

Under manager Enzo Maresca, the team has won all seven of their league matches, topping the table with 21 points, three ahead of title holders Arsenal.

City’s immediate task is to maintain their unbeaten run at Villa Park, even as their injury list grows. Striker Antoine Semenyo is expected to be sidelined for a long period with a knee injury, while there are doubts over the availability of wing-backs Nico O’Reilly and midfielders Mateo Kovačić and Matheus Nunes.

Erling Haaland, the Premier League’s top scorer, missed Tuesday’s emphatic 5-1 Champions League victory over AEK Athens due to a bruise but is expected to be ready for the Aston Villa clash.

Arsenal, City’s closest rival with 18 points, host Everton despite fitness concerns after Bukayo Saka was substituted limping in the 10th minute of Wednesday’s 2-2 draw at Bayern Munich with a thigh muscle injury.

Fourth-placed Chelsea face London rivals Tottenham Hotspur at Stamford Bridge following consecutive league wins over Bournemouth and Everton. Tottenham secured their first league victory of the season with a 3-1 win over visitors Coventry City on Monday, after a poor start that left them 16th with six points from seven matches. Chelsea, meanwhile, have 13 points in fourth place.

Coventry City also face Fulham tomorrow, while the round opens today with Ipswich Town hosting Nottingham Forest.
