The Kingdom of Bahrain expressed its strong condemnation and outrage at the two heinous terrorist attacks carried out by the Houthi terrorist militia, which targeted King Fahd International Airport in Dammam and the Shaybah oil field in the Eastern Province, resulting in the death of one Saudi citizen and three Asian residents, the injury of ten others, and material damage to the targeted facilities.
The Bahraini Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed that these attacks are no longer isolated incidents, but rather part of a systematic terrorist campaign that, in less than two weeks, saw four consecutive attacks on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, King Fahd International Airport in Dammam, and the Shaybah oil field. This constitutes a serious escalation in targeting vital infrastructure and global energy security, necessitating an immediate international response that goes beyond verbal condemnation.
Bahrain reaffirmed its full solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its support for all sovereign measures taken to safeguard its security, stability, and territorial integrity, as well as its inherent right to self-defense in accordance with Article 51 of the UN Charter. It emphasized that the security of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is an integral part of Bahrain’s security and that of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states.
The Ministry stressed that these attacks constitute a blatant violation of the rules of international law, international humanitarian law, and the UN Charter, and represent a direct assault on global energy security, rising to the level of a threat to international peace and security. This demands immediate action by the UN Security Council under Chapter VII of the Charter, and the adoption of firm and deterrent measures to halt the repeated Houthi terrorist attacks on civilians, civilian objects, and vital economic infrastructure, hold the perpetrators accountable, and ensure full implementation of relevant Security Council resolutions, particularly Resolutions 2216 and 2817, thereby safeguarding regional and international peace and security.
For its part, the State of Qatar condemned the Houthi group’s attack on King Fahd International Airport, describing it as a serious violation of Saudi sovereignty and a direct threat to regional security, the safety of civilians, civilian objects, and air navigation.
The Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a statement, reaffirmed its full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and its steadfast support for all legitimate measures taken to preserve its sovereignty, security, territorial integrity, and interests. It emphasized that the security of the Kingdom is an integral part of Qatar’s security and of the collective security system of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states.
