In a new achievement reflecting its firm commitment to sustainability and the enhancement of responsible business practices, Gulf Bank announced that its branch in the Sabah Al-Ahmad Residential City has received the Platinum Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification, awarded by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) and the Green Business Certification Inc. (GBCI), in recognition of its efforts to implement the highest global standards for sustainable buildings and improve its operational efficiency.

The LEED certification is among the most prominent global rating systems for green buildings, measuring facility performance against a set of advanced criteria that include energy and water efficiency, indoor environmental quality, selection of sustainable materials, responsible facility management, and the reduction of environmental impacts resulting from building operations.

This achievement comes within the framework of Gulf Bank’s 2030 Sustainability Strategy, which aims to integrate environmental, social, and governance considerations into the Bank’s various activities and operations, aligning with global best practices and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. It also reflects the Bank’s ongoing commitment to developing its infrastructure and enhancing the efficiency of its facilities by adopting innovative solutions that contribute to rationalizing natural resource consumption and reducing environmental impact.

On this occasion, Eng. Khaled Al-Awadhi, Deputy General Manager of Facilities Management, stated: “Obtaining the Platinum LEED certification for the Sabah Al-Ahmad Residential City branch is the culmination of Gulf Bank’s continuous efforts to enhance environmental sustainability across its various facilities and buildings. We do not view sustainability as a temporary initiative, but rather as a fundamental part of our institutional approach and long-term development plans.”

Al-Awadhi added: “At Gulf Bank, we strive to apply the best global standards in facility management and building operations, achieving a balance between providing a modern and comfortable banking environment for customers and employees, on the one hand, and preserving natural resources and reducing environmental impacts, on the other. LEED standards provide a comprehensive framework that helps us continue to develop our facilities on more efficient and sustainable foundations.”

He emphasized that the Bank continues to invest in the development of its branches and operational facilities by adopting modern technologies and systems that contribute to improving energy and water consumption efficiency and enhancing environmental performance, noting that these efforts align with the targets of the 2030 Sustainability Strategy and support the Bank’s vision of achieving responsible and sustainable growth.

In the context of its ongoing efforts to elevate its facilities, Gulf Bank continues to implement a comprehensive plan to develop its branch network in accordance with the latest global environmental and operational standards, focusing on enhancing building efficiency and improving the experience of customers and employees across various locations.

The Bank is also working on developing the main Gulf Bank building, classified among the distinguished historical buildings in the State of Kuwait, through implementing well-planned modernization projects that preserve its architectural and heritage value while simultaneously enhancing its operational and environmental efficiency in line with global best practices in sustainability and facility management.

Al-Awadhi concluded by emphasizing that obtaining the Platinum LEED certification for the Sabah Al-Ahmad Residential City branch represents an important step in the Bank’s journey toward enhancing environmental sustainability, reaffirming Gulf Bank’s continued expansion of green standards in its future facilities and its consolidation of position as a responsible banking institution that actively contributes to supporting sustainable development efforts in the State of Kuwait.
