During his participation in the summit, under the theme “Capital Across Generations,” Macron emphasized that the financial sector is a key partner in addressing climate change, reiterating France’s commitment to supporting efforts to align financial flows with climate objectives.
He stated: “Since the launch of the Sovereign Wealth Fund initiative in 2017, I have been firmly convinced that the financial sector must be a key partner in tackling climate change. Nearly a decade later, this conviction has only grown stronger and more significant.”
He added that the Sovereign Wealth Fund Alliance within the initiative now comprises 51 of the world’s leading institutions, praising their ongoing commitment, alongside sovereign wealth funds, to directing financial flows in line with climate goals, and affirming that France will remain a strong supporter of this ambitious direction.
His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad commended the productive discussions he held with President Macron to strengthen the strategic partnership between Qatar and France, expand cooperation between the two countries, and exchange views on major regional and international issues. For his part, French President Emmanuel Macron announced that he had secured supplies of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Qatar. Macron told journalists in the Qatari capital, “We have secured the equivalent of 2 terawatt-hours per month of LNG during the winter,” adding, “This was important for us and will enable us to move forward.” He continued, “I have decided to proceed with the visit’s agenda, first to maintain France’s image in this region, and secondly before our citizens,” pledging that the secured gas supplies would yield positive results for the French people.
