A British family has chosen to abandon traditional stability in favor of a life filled with travel and adventure, embarking on an experience that lasted nearly three years during which they visited 17 countries while reducing their expenses compared to their previous life in Britain.
According to British media reports, the couple, Ruth and Stephen Rowe, decided in 2023 to sell most of their possessions, including their car and furniture, and leave their rented home in the village of Erdington, accompanied by their two children, Aurora and Atlas, after purchasing one-way tickets to Sri Lanka.
Since then, the family has visited countries including Thailand, Indonesia, Peru, and Brazil, and spent the last few months in India, relying on just two suitcases and staying approximately four weeks in each destination.
The couple says their monthly expenses dropped from £3,000 in Britain to around £2,000 while traveling, allowing them to save nearly £36,000 over three years, while Stephen continues to manage his online training business.
The children, meanwhile, are learning from daily experiences such as practicing Spanish, exploring volcanoes, and handling different currencies, away from screens.
Ruth emphasizes that family experiences have become more important to them than owning material possessions, despite her longing for relatives and friends in Britain.
