Al-Qadsia secured a crucial 1-0 victory over Tajikistan’s Regar-TadAZ today at the Mohammed Al-Hamad Stadium, in the second round of Group C matches in the AFC Challenge League.

In a preceding match within the same group, India’s Goa defeated Bangladesh’s Fortis 2-1.

The “Yellow” side tops the group standings with six points, followed by Regar and Goa, each with three points, while Fortis sits in fourth and last place with no points.

The Qadsia team needs only a draw in their final match against Goa, scheduled for next Friday, to secure top spot and advance to the next round.

Al-Qadsia delivered a strong first-half performance, dominating possession thanks to the outstanding display of their midfield trio: Jassem Al-Mutawa, Abdullah Mutawa, and Ivorian player Cedric Djiba. They threatened the opponent’s goal on several occasions before Qadsia’s Omani foreign player, Nasser Al-Rawahi, scored the winning goal with an impressive individual effort in the 46th minute, ending the first half with the “Yellows” leading Regar 1-0.

In the second half, Nasser Al-Rawahi missed a golden opportunity to extend Al-Qadsia’s lead when he broke through to face Regar’s goalkeeper, Severin Takam, but shot wide (60th minute).

The “Yellows” maintained their lead until the final whistle, with Regar posing no significant threat.

The match was officiated by Omani referee Mahmoud Al-Mujrawi, who overlooked several instances of excessive roughness by Regar players that warranted red cards.
