Bada Al-Anazi The Technical Committee of the Municipal Council, during its meeting yesterday chaired by Eng. Manira Al-Amir, approved the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation’s request to adopt the boundaries of the existing oil complex site in the Shuwaikh area. The technical opinion endorsed the site approval with an area of 64,591.94 square meters, according to the attached plan, subject to coordination with the Ministry of Finance – State Property Contracts Department, and authorized the relevant departments to make necessary adjustments to dimensions or area within the approved limits in case of conflicts with infrastructure services or regulatory requirements.
Eng. Manira Al-Amir stated that one of the key issues addressed by the committee was the final approval of a request to reorganize 23 residential plots in the Al-Sadiq area into a single plot with a total area of 10,067 square meters, after completing the legal procedures related to publication and allowing interested parties to submit their comments and objections in accordance with prevailing regulations and controls.
She added that the approval comes in line with specified controls, including compliance with service authority requirements and the responsibility of the concerned party to bear the costs associated with relocating or modifying services, if any, while authorizing the relevant departments to make necessary regulatory adjustments in case of conflicts with infrastructure services or regulatory requirements.
She noted that the committee approved a request to establish a diwaniya in the Al-Fayhaa area, covering an area of 1,000 square meters. The technical opinion endorsed the request under specific conditions, the most prominent of which were dedicating the plot exclusively for use as a diwaniya, limiting construction to a basement, ground floor, and first floor, while adhering to prescribed heights and obtaining final approval for architectural plans and setbacks from neighbors in accordance with the private residential system.
Eng. Manira Al-Amir further stated that the committee referred the request from Al-Awlaa Hotels Company regarding the construction of a concrete base at sea to place the “Ghazir” barge, owned by the Radisson Blu Hotel, within the existing Maritime Heritage Museum located in front of the hotel facing the sea, to the Executive Body of Kuwait Municipality, to provide them with a detailed technical study. She pointed out that the report on the request highlighted that the barge has been out of service for more than 35 years since its construction, and that the request aims to restore and preserve it as part of Kuwait’s maritime heritage by placing it on a marine base measuring 15 by 50 square meters.
Eng. Manira Al-Amir concluded that these transactions reflect the diversity of files reviewed by the Technical Committee, ranging from land use regulation and adherence to planning requirements, to supporting the preservation of heritage landmarks and monitoring sites with service and strategic nature, all while complying with the procedures and controls governing each transaction.
