Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council Chairman Rashad al-Alimi has directed that all necessary measures be taken to respond to a missile attack launched by Houthi militias using three ballistic missiles against a camp for receiving and training new recruits in Shabwa province, eastern Yemen, which resulted in dozens of deaths and injuries.

The state-owned Yemeni News Agency (SABA) reported that al-Alimi, during a phone call with Shabwa Governor Awad bin al-Minwar, was briefed on the latest developments regarding the attack, which targeted a column of new recruits from various provinces across the country. Al-Alimi emphasized that targeting recruits reflects the Houthi militias’ pattern of resorting to terrorist attacks whenever they face pressure or their Iran-backed plans stall.

Previously, Major General Majid al-Nazili, the official spokesperson for the Yemeni Armed Forces, stated that Houthi militias had targeted a training center for members of security and police forces in Shabwa with three ballistic missiles, noting that the militias deliberately target and kill Yemenis in various governorates.

Yemeni military and security sources reported that dozens of people were killed and injured in the attack on the Al-Alam Camp in the Jirdan district, which serves as a training facility in the province. The local authority in Shabwa stated that 53 recruits were killed and approximately 200 were injured in a missile attack targeting new recruits from the Internal Security Forces while undergoing security training and qualification at the Ahmed Al-Sulaimani Training Center.

On another front, Major General Majid al-Nazili, the official spokesperson for the Yemeni Armed Forces, confirmed that the Yemeni Armed Forces “have seized the initiative and expanded their offensive operations within the ‘Yemen’s Dawn’ operation, carrying out 1,164 precise and direct targeting operations within 24 hours using combat aircraft, drones, field artillery, rocket launchers, and snipers.” These operations targeted Houthi militia terrorist concentrations, reinforcements, and vehicles, destroyed their fortifications, and disrupted their fire sources and supply routes.

Al-Nazili added in a statement on the X platform: “In Taiz, assault units developed their attack, seized new positions, and forced militia elements to retreat under intense aerial and artillery support. Meanwhile, the southern fronts and Shabwa fronts continued their offensive pressure on enemy positions, restricting their movement and preventing them from reorganizing their formations or deploying reserves.”

He clarified that along the western front in the coastal area and Bab al-Mandab, forces stationed there broke the momentum of enemy formations, imposed fire control over their movement axes, and struck their assembly areas and fire sources. He added that the operations resulted in neutralizing 558 militia elements, including field commanders, and destroying or damaging 135 military vehicles and equipment, while our units continued to develop the offensive and expand their field gains in accordance with the operational plan.

He concluded: “The targeting operations were carried out against legitimate military objectives, after verification and taking necessary precautions to protect civilians and civilian property.”
