The State of Kuwait expressed its strong condemnation of the brutal practices of the Israeli occupation against the Palestinian people, while reiterating its firm and strongly condemned position against the terrorist attacks carried out by the Houthi militias against the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This was stated in a speech by Kuwait’s Permanent Representative to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and its Consul General in Jeddah, Yousef Al-Tineb, at the 52nd session meeting of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers held in Baghdad.

Al-Tineb said that the Council of Foreign Ministers meeting “takes place amid a serious escalation in the Palestinian issue, which faces systematic attempts to impose a new reality on the ground that ignores the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and constitutes a blatant violation of international resolutions and charters.”

He added, “The ongoing Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip, accompanied by a blockade, systematic destruction of infrastructure, forced displacement, deliberate targeting of civilians and hospitals, and the prevention of humanitarian aid delivery, constitutes a grave violation of the principles of international law and an attempt to impose a policy of fait accompli by force at the expense of the fixed, inalienable rights of the Palestinian people. We emphasize our firm rejection of attempts to displace the Palestinian people and our strong condemnation of the brutal practices of the Israeli occupation.”

He pointed out that the State of Kuwait “emphasizes the importance of reaching a comprehensive and permanent ceasefire, ensuring the flow of humanitarian aid, guaranteeing protection for civilians, providing safe corridors for displaced persons, and supporting efforts aimed at full recognition of the State of Palestine and enhancing its legal status in the United Nations and international forums.”

He also expressed “the State of Kuwait’s condemnation of the Republic of Colombia’s opening of its embassy in occupied Jerusalem, in a blatant violation of international law and relevant resolutions of the United Nations Security Council.”

He noted that “the State of Kuwait reiterates its steadfast position supporting the legitimate Palestinian rights, foremost among which is the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the borders of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital,” calling on “the international community, especially the Security Council, to assume its legal and humanitarian responsibilities and take serious action to stop this aggression and prevent attempts to impose a new reality through displacement and settlement.”

Regarding the situation in Yemen, Al-Tineb said that “the State of Kuwait strongly condemns and denounces the terrorist attacks carried out by the Houthi militias against the brotherly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which have resulted in the deaths of innocent civilians, damage to infrastructure, and attacks on airports, as well as assaults targeting Makkah Al-Mukarramah and Al-Madinah Al-Munawwarah, in a blatant and serious violation of the principles of international law and Islamic and humanitarian values.”

He indicated that “Kuwait reaffirms its full solidarity with the brotherly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its standing by its side in all measures taken to safeguard its security, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, and to protect civilians and Islamic holy sites, stressing that the security and stability of the Kingdom constitute a fundamental pillar for the security and stability of the region.”

He also affirmed “the State of Kuwait’s firm and supportive position regarding the security and stability of member states, respect for their sovereignty, independence, unity, and territorial integrity, and rejection of the use or threat of force, in line with its commitment to the principles of international law and the UN Charter, and its belief in the importance of enhancing solidarity and cohesion among Islamic countries and prioritizing dialogue and peaceful solutions, which contribute to consolidating the foundations of security and stability in the region and in the countries of our Islamic world.”

He added that “the State of Kuwait emphasizes the importance of collective action within the Organization, which enhances our capacity to confront common challenges and achieve the lofty objectives for which it was established.”

In this context, he stressed the necessity of confronting the phenomenon of “Islamophobia” and called for intensifying international efforts to halt hate speech and incitement against Islam and Muslims, and to protect religious freedoms within the framework of international law. He praised the international initiatives and efforts undertaken to combat “Islamophobia” and to promote a culture of tolerance and mutual respect among peoples, emphasizing the importance of continuing international coordination and cooperation to address this phenomenon and to counter all forms of religious bigotry, discrimination, and hatred. The head of the delegation concluded by calling on the member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to take practical and effective stances in defending Islamic peoples, safeguarding their rights, and protecting their sacred sites from the threats that endanger them, noting that “history does not forget, and our peoples are waiting and will accept nothing less than a genuine collective action that reflects their aspirations, preserves their dignity, and safeguards their identity.”
