National Defense Council chaired by Sisi: Providing all forms of support to defend Saudi security and stability

Cairo – Khadija Hamouda and Naha Imam: Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi chaired a meeting of the National Defense Council at the Presidential Palace yesterday, during which the council pledged to provide all forms of support to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the face of the reprehensible Houthi attacks it has been subjected to. This comes a day after al-Sisi announced Egypt’s readiness to carry out “any measure to protect or defend the Kingdom.”

Spokesman for the Presidency, Ambassador Mohamed El-Shenawy, stated that the National Defense Council reviewed the full spectrum of current regional developments and the serious situations unfolding in the region, particularly amid the escalation of unacceptable attacks against the fraternal Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. In light of this, the council decided the following:

- Full solidarity and complete support for the fraternal Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, based on the historical ties and strong bonds between the peoples of the two brotherly nations, which are regarded as the heart of the Arab nation, and in recognition of the interconnection between Saudi national security and Egyptian and Arab national security.

- Provision of all necessary and feasible forms of support to the fraternal Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to defend its security and stability, safeguard its resources, protect its territorial integrity, and defend Islamic holy sites.

- Continuation and intensification of political and diplomatic efforts, in coordination with relevant regional and international parties, to contribute to de-escalation across the entire region and to peacefully resolve the crises afflicting the area.

Meanwhile, the House of Representatives concluded today its session held yesterday, presided over by Advisor Hisham Badawi, at the request of President al-Sisi, to vote on granting him authorization to take the necessary measures to support the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
