A white cartoon dog who never uttered a single word has, over 75 years, evolved into a fashion icon, with top designers competing to create outfits for him.
This is what a new exhibition, which opened in Manhattan, celebrates, revealing how Snoopy and his friends from the Peanuts comic strip infiltrated the worlds of art and fashion.
“Snoopy in Style New York” opened on September 2, 2026, in the Meatpacking District of Manhattan, with free admission until September 26, organized by the Charles M. Schulz Museum and Research Center.
Spanning approximately 1,500 square meters across ten immersive zones, the exhibition tells how Peanuts creator Charles Schulz gave each character a distinctive style that reflected their personality, from Charlie Brown’s zigzag-striped shirt to Linus’s security blanket and Sally’s polka-dot dress. The exhibition features unique Snoopy and his bird friend Woodstock dolls designed exclusively by global brands such as Adidas, Tory Burch, Levi’s, Michael Kors, Tommy Hilfiger, and Omega, alongside a musical corner called “Joe Cool Lounge,” which recreates Snoopy’s alter ego as a “cool jazz musician,” complete with a DJ booth and rare archival vinyl records.
The exhibition also highlights Schulz’s personal friendship with tennis champion Billie Jean King and his support for the Title IX legislation guaranteeing gender equality in sports. The event coincides with New York Fashion Week and the US Open tennis championship, commemorating the 75th anniversary of the launch of Peanuts in 1950.
