Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, on behalf of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, inaugurated the eighth edition of the “Our Heritage 2026” exhibition of handicrafts, crafts, and heritage products. Held under the patronage of the President of the Republic at the Egypt International Exhibition Center in the Fifth Settlement, the event is organized by the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency (MSMEDA) under the slogan “The Origin of the Story” and will run until the 24th of this month.
Dr. Madbouly emphasized that holding the “Our Heritage” exhibition for the eighth consecutive year reflects the strong interest shown by the political leadership in the handicrafts and heritage sector. In implementation of presidential directives to coordinate efforts among all state institutions and agencies to strengthen an integrated system for reviving and elevating these venerable crafts, he pointed to the launch of the “Handicrafts Strategy,” which aims to transform Egypt into a leading hub for the production and export of handicraft industries. The strategy pays special attention to the production clusters and natural concentrations of artisans across various governorates, recognizing them as dense employment hubs.
He added that this sector boasts millions of artisans who craft distinctive products by hand, preserving Egypt’s identity and civilization while expressing its cultural diversity. The sector also provides hundreds of thousands of job opportunities for Egyptian men and women across different governorates and constitutes a stable source of income for their economic activities. He noted the state’s commitment to continuing the provision of developmental, technical, and marketing support services to enhance the efficiency of workers and develop their products, which are currently witnessing noticeable progress and growing demand, enabling them to compete locally and reach global markets.
The Prime Minister highlighted that the “Our Heritage” exhibition has become an international gathering bringing together thousands of artisans, artists, innovators, and entrepreneurs from various governorates in one venue, alongside participants from different countries and representatives of major development organizations focused on heritage preservation. This provides valuable opportunities for exchanging expertise and benefiting from updated manufacturing and employment mechanisms, paving the way for access to new local and international markets.
