Alghanim Industries Announces Formation of Group Board of Directors Chaired by Qutaiba Alghanim

Alghanim Industries (Alghanim Group, led by Qutaiba Yousif Alghanim), one of the largest private sector companies in the region, announced the formation of the Group’s Board of Directors, chaired by Qutaiba Yousif Alghanim, Executive Chairman of the Group, in a move that strengthens the governance framework and supports the Group’s institutional development and growth and expansion plans.

The Board includes Hazem Shawqi as Deputy Chairman, alongside Sheikh Salem Abdullah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Nizar Mohammed Al-Adasani, Walid Al-Asimi, Ameer Al-Khudhairi, and Eyad Malas. The Board brings together extensive leadership expertise in international relations, energy, banking, investment, finance, business management, and governance.

Working alongside the executive management, the Board will guide the Group’s strategic direction, enhance governance, and improve decision-making effectiveness, leveraging the members’ experience and insights to align with the Group’s growth and expansion plans.

Hazem Shawqi – Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors

He possesses extensive international experience in the banking and investment sectors. He previously served as Head of Investment Banking for the Middle East and North Africa at UBS, in addition to holding leadership positions at global financial institutions, including Credit Suisse and Goldman Sachs. He has closely worked with several major groups and companies in the region, providing advice on strategic deals and growth and expansion plans.

Sheikh Salem Abdullah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah

He has a diplomatic and international career spanning more than 37 years, during which he held several prominent positions, including serving as Kuwait’s Ambassador to the United States for over two decades and as Minister of Foreign Affairs. He currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors of SMAEX and holds both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Political Science from the American University of Beirut.

Nizar Mohammed Al-Adasani

He has more than three decades of experience in the energy sector. He previously served as Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation, in addition to holding leadership roles at Kuwait Oil Company, Kuwait Oil Exploration Company (KOOPEC), Kuwait Gulf Oil Company, and the Joint Operations Company (JOC). His expertise spans energy, investment, strategy, and governance.

Walid Al-Asimi

He has over 45 years of experience in accounting, auditing, financial control, and governance. He spent approximately four decades at Ernst & Young – Kuwait, where he held the positions of Partner and Managing Partner. He has worked with leading institutions in both the public and private sectors and has held senior financial leadership roles at Kuwait Finance House. He has contributed to the development of the profession through leadership positions in the Kuwait Society of Accountants and Auditors.

Ameer Al-Khudhairi

He has more than 35 years of experience in the banking and investment sectors, including corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, asset management, direct investment, and venture capital.

He previously chaired the board of directors of the National Commercial Bank and played a role in the merger that led to the establishment of the largest bank in the Kingdom. He also chaired the boards of Goldman Sachs Saudi Arabia, Morgan Stanley Saudi Arabia, and Allianz French Saudi, and is the founding partner and chairman of the board of Amwal Capital Partners.

Eyad Malasi has over 30 years of international experience in the investment, financial services, real estate, retail, and entertainment sectors. He currently serves as Chief Executive Officer of Al Ghurair Group, and previously held the position of Chief Executive Officer of Majid Al Futtaim Holdings, where he led the group through a period of strategic growth and expansion. He has also held senior leadership roles at the International Finance Corporation, the Hermes Financial Group, and Gateway Partners, in addition to serving on the boards of several companies.
