The Arab League condemned yesterday the attacks launched by the Houthi militias on the Yemeni government’s headquarters in Aden, Aden International Airport, and residential neighborhoods in Marib, which resulted in casualties and injuries and endangered the lives of civilians. In a statement, the League affirmed that these attacks constitute a highly dangerous escalation and a blatant violation of the rules of international law and international humanitarian law, stressing that the continued targeting of state institutions and civilian facilities reflects a determination to persist in escalation, thereby threatening Yemen’s security and stability and undermining efforts aimed at de-escalation and reaching a political settlement to the Yemeni crisis. It reaffirmed its firm position supporting Yemen’s unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, as well as its support for the government and legitimate state institutions, and called on the international community to assume its responsibilities and take firm positions and measures to halt these attacks and hold those responsible accountable, thereby ensuring the protection of civilians and safeguarding state institutions. Aden’s security authorities had reported that two missiles launched by the Houthis fell on Friday within the premises of the city’s airport, which serves as the temporary headquarters of the internationally backed Yemeni government. They stated that “two missiles fired by the Houthi group fell inside the Aden International Airport compound, marking the second incident of its kind in less than two weeks.” Yemeni government Media Minister Moamer al-Eryani noted in a post on the X platform that the two missiles landed approximately 500 meters from a plane preparing to depart from Aden Airport for Cairo.
