The Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jassem Al-Budaiwi, announced on Saturday that the Kingdom of Bahrain will host the 168th GCC Ministerial Meeting on Sunday, chaired by Bahrain’s Foreign Minister, Dr. Abdulatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, who serves as the current Chairman of the GCC Ministerial Council, with the attendance of the foreign ministers of the GCC member states.
In a statement, Al-Budaiwi said the meeting would discuss a number of topics and files related to enhancing joint GCC cooperation, as well as the latest developments in regional and international arenas.
He added that the Ninth Joint Ministerial Meeting of the Strategic Dialogue between the GCC and Russia would be held on the sidelines of the gathering.
He clarified that the joint meeting comes in line with the high directives of the GCC Heads of State aimed at consolidating relations with various countries and regional blocs, and building effective strategic partnerships that enhance the GCC’s presence on the international stage.
He noted that the meeting would discuss several agenda items to explore ways to increase joint cooperation and exchange views on a number of regional and international issues.
Al-Budaiwi emphasized that both sides have continued, since signing the Memorandum of Understanding for Strategic Dialogue in November 2011, to enhance their joint efforts to advance Gulf-Russian relations toward broader horizons, serving mutual interests across various fields.
