On Friday, GCC Secretary-General Jassem Al-Bedaiwi expressed his appreciation for the position articulated by members of the UN Security Council in their presidential statement regarding the attacks launched by the Houthi terrorist militia against the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
In a statement, Al-Bedaiwi said that the Council’s condemnation of these attacks constitutes a clear international message rejecting the continued targeting of the Kingdom, its national assets, and the threat to maritime navigation and international trade routes. He added that the significance of the statement lies in affirming the international community’s responsibility to halt these violations and prevent the Houthi militia from continuing to receive the weapons and support that fuel its attacks. He pointed out that the full implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 2216 (2015) represents an international obligation that must be fulfilled in accordance with its provisions, thereby contributing to putting an end to these practices that threaten the security and stability of the region.
Al-Bedaiwi emphasized that the Gulf Cooperation Council views the security of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as a fundamental pillar of the shared Gulf security architecture, stressing that GCC member states stand in a unified and decisive position alongside the Kingdom, supporting all measures it takes to defend its sovereignty, safeguard its security, and protect its citizens and residents on its territory.
