National Committee for Combating Money Laundering Holds Meeting to Follow Up on Strengthening the System and Consolidating Stakeholder Cooperation

The National Committee for Combating Money Laundering and the Financing of Terrorism, chaired by Dr. Hamad Al-Mukarram, held a meeting to follow up on national efforts aimed at strengthening the relevant framework and consolidating cooperation and coordination among concerned entities.

Dr. Al-Mukarram, who also chairs the Financial Intelligence Unit, told KUNA that the meeting, which he chaired and which included members of the Committee and representatives of relevant entities, addressed several agenda items related to monitoring the implementation of the national plan and strategy in this field.

He clarified that the meeting reviewed recent developments in combating money laundering and the financing of terrorism, as well as ways to enhance coordination mechanisms and exchange information and expertise among concerned entities, thereby contributing to improved performance efficiency and strengthened compliance with international standards and requirements.

Dr. Al-Mukarram emphasized the importance of continuing joint efforts among concerned entities and intensifying initiatives to develop the money laundering and terrorist financing countermeasures framework, thereby enhancing the effectiveness of measures taken and supporting the achievement of national strategic objectives.

He also stressed the commitment to strengthening institutional cooperation and coordination frameworks, as well as the exchange of expertise and information in accordance with approved frameworks, to keep pace with relevant developments and support the efficiency of national work in this field.
