The Public Authority for Applied Education and Training announced that the International Council of Nurses (ICN) has selected one of the Authority’s academics as its representative on the scientific committee for the Council’s upcoming conference, reflecting the standing of Kuwaiti academic expertise and its presence at international scientific forums.
In a statement on Thursday, the Authority said that Dr. Abdullah Hassan’s appointment to the committee, alongside a select group of nursing leaders and specialists from around the world, constitutes a new academic and professional achievement added to the Authority’s record of accomplishments, particularly those of the College of Nursing.
It noted that the Authority will participate in the ICN Congress 2027, scheduled to be held in Taiwan in July next year under the theme “Empowering Nurses: New Horizons Transforming Nursing Care and Public Health.”
The Authority explained that the conference’s scientific committee plays a pivotal role in preparing and developing scientific content, identifying themes that align with the latest global developments in nursing, evaluating and selecting speakers and scientific posters, and contributing to initiatives that enrich participants’ experiences and maximize the benefits of the conference activities.
It viewed this selection as an opportunity to strengthen scientific cooperation and exchange expertise with a global elite of specialists, develop research partnerships and joint initiatives that advance nursing practices and health policies, and support evidence-based research and practices to enhance the quality of nursing care at both local and international levels.
According to the statement, Dr. Abdullah Hassan is an academic and researcher specializing in community health nursing and public health. His research focuses on non-communicable chronic diseases among adolescents and young adults, early detection methods, and risk reduction strategies, thereby contributing to enhanced prevention and improved healthcare for this demographic.
The duties of a scientific committee member include reviewing and evaluating scientific posters, selecting and nominating speakers and experts, and participating in the management and coordination of scientific sessions during International Council of Nurses conferences.
