Kuwait officials continue the preparatory steps of the national veteran football team for the second edition of the Gulf Cup for Veterans, which will be hosted by Qatar from October 31 to November 6, featuring eight Gulf national teams. The gathering brings former football stars back to the competitive atmosphere and evokes milestones from their history since the tournament’s inception in Bahrain in 1970.

The Kuwaiti delegation is led by Wael Sulaiman, who participated in five Gulf Cup editions, with Mohammed Al-Bunyan as team manager, Ali Mahmoud as supervisor, Thamer Anad as coach, Waleed Nasar as assistant coach, and Jaber Nasar as media coordinator.

The teams will compete in the same groups as Gulf Cup 27, which recently concluded in Jeddah and was won by the Saudi national team. One of the tournament’s conditions is that participating players must be 40 years old or older.

For his part, Wael Sulaiman said that the selection included several players who joined training before the squad reached the required number for the tournament. Former players Nawaf Al-Khalidi and Mohammed Jaragh have apologized and will not participate.
