Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz chaired the Council of Ministers meeting held in Riyadh yesterday. The Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported that the Council affirmed that the “terrorist Houthi militia will face the consequences of its crimes and repeated despicable attacks on Saudi Arabia’s airports, the holy cities of Mecca and Medina, pilgrims to the Two Holy Mosques, and civilian and economic assets.” It expressed its deepest condolences and sincere sympathies to the families of the victims of these criminal attacks, and prayed for the swift recovery of the injured and wounded.
The Council appreciated the “resolute role of the armed forces in defending the nation, protecting its gains and resources, and deterring any aggression or threat to its sovereignty and the safety of its people and residents, with full competence and capability, ensuring that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia remains a land of security and stability, advancing with will and determination toward new horizons of progress and prosperity, alongside vigorous efforts to achieve peace and stability in the region and the world.”
The Council praised the “military operations conducted by the coalition supporting legitimacy in Yemen to neutralize the threat posed by the terrorist Houthi militia to the Yemeni people, international peace and security, global trade, and international supply chains.” In this context, it reiterated the Kingdom’s firm stance that it will not allow threats to its security or freedom of navigation in the Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandab Strait, and expressed its appreciation for the positions of friendly and allied countries and international organizations condemning the crimes of this rebellious coup faction.
The Council commended the success in restoring oil flows through the East-West pipeline, noting that this rapid recovery demonstrates the high operational flexibility of the Kingdom’s energy system and its ability to develop technical solutions and respond to emergencies, thereby enhancing the reliability and continuity of supplies to international markets and supporting the global economy.
Minister of Media Salman bin Yousuf Al-Dosari, in his statement to SPA, clarified that the Council subsequently reviewed the contents of talks and meetings held in recent days between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and friendly and allied countries, aimed at supporting bilateral and multilateral cooperation tracks for greater coordination and integration to address common challenges across various fields.
Meanwhile, Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman received a series of calls from Arab and foreign leaders who condemned the despicable Houthi attacks and expressed their support for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in confronting them.
US President Donald Trump announced that he had spoken with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman regarding the situation in Yemen. In press remarks, he stated that the Houthis are behaving very badly and that he might ask Turkey to intervene in Yemen. He described Iran as a “failed state” that lacks an economy and does not pay its soldiers’ salaries, adding, “We will make a decision regarding it very soon.”
Trump posted on his platform, Truth Social: “The Houthis are behaving very badly. I thought they learned their lesson a year ago when we bombed them with massive force, then we stopped at their request.” He added, “They remained silent for a long time, but they have re-emerged – possibly instigated by Iran, that failed state lacking a navy and air force, suffering from the worst economy in the world and an inflation rate of 301% – launching malicious attacks against the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and deliberately seeking to raise oil prices, possibly ahead of the US elections.” He concluded that “this is unacceptable behavior.”
Someone should clarify to them that I am not a candidate in the elections—I have already won, and by a landslide—but I will be present after the elections, and I will not forget that.”
