Under the patronage of Dr. Jasem Mohammed Al-Ali, Secretary-General of the General Secretariat of the Council of Private Universities, the Kuwait College of Science and Technology (KCST) yesterday, Tuesday, inaugurated the proceedings of the Third International Conference on Artificial Intelligence and Green Energy (IEEE ICAIGE’26). This year’s edition runs concurrently with the Third Smart, Sustainable, and Secure Internet of Things Forum (S4IoT’26), as part of a scientific event that will continue until October 15 at the college’s premises.
This year’s edition received 120 research papers submitted by 30 countries, reflecting international interest in the conference’s themes and facilitating the exchange of knowledge and expertise among researchers in the fields of smart technologies and sustainable energy. The conference is organized in partnership with Arab and international universities and is sponsored by global organizations such as the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).
Dr. Jasem Mohammed Al-Ali, Secretary-General of the General Secretariat of the Council of Private Universities, emphasized that the S4IoT 2026 conference constitutes an advanced scientific platform that reflects the rapid developments in the fields of the Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and sustainable energy, as well as the opportunities and challenges they entail, which necessitate strengthening scientific research and integration among academic institutions and technical and professional sectors.
He noted that the General Secretariat of the Council of Private Universities places special importance on supporting scientific initiatives and conferences that contribute to the development of the higher education system, enhancing the quality of its outputs, strengthening the research and innovation environment, and encouraging private higher education institutions to keep pace with scientific and technological advancements and build strategic partnerships that facilitate knowledge transfer and expertise exchange.
He added that this direction aligns with the Secretariat’s commitment to supporting higher education institutions and enhancing their capacity to prepare qualified competencies capable of meeting future requirements, thereby contributing to consolidating the knowledge economy and supporting development pathways in the State of Kuwait.
For his part, Professor Dr. Khaled Al-Baqain, President of the Kuwait College of Science and Technology, delivered a speech during the opening ceremony, stating: “Since its establishment, the Kuwait College of Science and Technology has been keen on organizing and hosting global scientific and research conferences, believing in the importance of the role of scientific research in learning, motivating students, and keeping them informed about the latest scientific developments. The organization of the Smart, Sustainable, and Secure Internet of Things conference alongside the Artificial Intelligence and Green Energy conference is a continuation of these efforts. The importance of these conferences lies in the fact that the topics to be discussed are at the core of scientific and economic progress in the world and the region, as they constitute the fundamental pillars for many future projects, including smart and sustainable cities, smart transportation systems, and enhancing production and manufacturing efficiency in the future. These efforts align with Kuwait’s aspirations to become a distinguished technology hub, in line with Kuwait Vision 2035.”
The scientific program focuses on four main pillars: artificial intelligence and its applications; renewable energy, distributed generation, and smart grids; digital transformation in the field of green energy; and fault diagnosis and techniques for maintaining operation during faults in renewable energy systems and electric vehicles.
The program also includes two specialized scientific workshops. The first addresses the application of artificial intelligence in the Internet of Energy and smart energy routing within networks, while the second focuses on the use of interpretable artificial intelligence in predicting sustainable energy production, thereby linking research topics to their practical applications.
A key feature of these conferences is that all accepted papers, following the peer-review process, will be published in IEEE Xplore, the premier international scientific publishing platform of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). Hosting this event aligns with the Kuwait College of Science and Technology’s commitment to supporting scientific research, fostering academic collaboration, and providing opportunities for researchers and specialists to engage in discussions on technological advancements and their applications in the fields of energy and sustainability.
