The Commander of the General Fire Service Authority, Major General Talal Al-Roumi, affirmed that, under the wise leadership of His Highness the Amir of Kuwait, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad, and His Highness the Crown Prince, Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled, may God protect and safeguard them, the State of Kuwait attaches great importance to strengthening the disaster risk management system and raising readiness and preparedness levels to ensure the protection of lives and property, and to preserve the nation’s assets and security.

Speaking to the media on the occasion of the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction, observed annually on October 13, Major General Al-Roumi stated that Kuwait continues its efforts at the domestic level to develop its preventive and operational capacities and to enhance coordination and integration among relevant authorities. Regionally and internationally, the country strives to consolidate cooperation and exchange expertise with sister and friendly nations, particularly the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council, thereby bolstering collective readiness to confront crises and disasters.

He added that Kuwait continues its humanitarian role at the international level by supporting countries and peoples affected by disasters and backing international efforts aimed at reducing their risks, in line with the objectives of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015–2030.

He emphasized that disaster response is no longer limited to reacting after an event occurs; rather, it now focuses on anticipating risks and strengthening prevention and preparedness. He confirmed that the General Fire Service Authority will continue to develop its human and technical capabilities, leverage modern technologies, and strengthen national and international partnerships to achieve an integrated system that ensures the highest levels of safety and security for society.
