AbdulKarim Ahmad: The State Security and Terrorism Crimes Department at the Court of Appeal, presided over by Advisor Abdullah Al-Sanea and with the participation of Advisors Mohammed Jaafar and Hamad Al-Badr, issued rulings in several state security cases, ranging from imprisonment to the affirmation of acquittals and the suspension of sentencing. The court sentenced an Egyptian resident to five years in prison after convicting him of belonging to the Daesh terrorist organization, receiving training in the use of explosives and improvised explosive devices, and plotting to bomb Hussainiyas in Kuwait, in addition to publicly insulting and disparaging the Emir. In another case, the court upheld the acquittal of a lawyer (S.A.) on charges of inciting sectarian strife and disparaging the Shia sect in Kuwait. The court also annulled the acquittal of a Kuwaiti national accused of sympathizing with Iran during the Iranian attacks on Kuwait, and ordered a suspension of sentencing, requiring him to provide a good conduct guarantee with a financial bail.
