Grand Mufti of Saudi Arabia: Houthi militia's targeting of civilian facilities and killing of innocent lives is among the gravest crimes

The Grand Mufti of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Chairman of the Council of Senior Scholars, the Committee of Scientific Research and Ifta, Sheikh Dr. Saleh Al-Fawzan, said yesterday that the Houthi terrorist militia’s targeting of civilian facilities and the taking of innocent lives, including pilgrims visiting the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque, constitutes one of the gravest crimes for which Allah, Exalted is He, has threatened severe punishment. He said, “Allah the Exalted says: ‘And whoever intends among them [the Sacred Mosque] to commit indecency or wrongdoing or aggression [against pilgrims] therein, We will make him taste of a painful punishment.’” He also cited the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) regarding Medina: “Whoever intends harm to its people, Allah will destroy him as salt dissolves in water.” He added, “Throughout history, no one who followed the path of this criminal gang in targeting sacred sites and those visiting Allah’s Sacred House has escaped destruction and a dire end.” He concluded, “We ask Allah the Exalted to put an end to these criminals and to protect our country and the lands of Muslims.”
