Trump announces immediate 'energy truce' between Russia and Ukraine

US President Donald Trump announced yesterday that Russia and Ukraine have agreed to halt mutual strikes targeting each other’s energy facilities and infrastructure. In a brief post on his Truth Social platform, Trump said the Russian and Ukrainian sides had “agreed” to what he described as an “energy truce” in their ongoing war, which would take effect “immediately,” and he urged them not to “violate” this truce. Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky had declared his country’s readiness to stop targeting Russian oil refineries if Moscow halted its attacks on Ukrainian energy facilities, amid criticism from his US counterpart, Donald Trump.
