The Houthi terrorist militia renewed its brutal attacks on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh yesterday, following the massive human toll caused by the attack two days prior, which resulted in more than 300 casualties, including the killed and wounded.
The official spokesperson for the coalition forces (the Coalition for the Support of Legitimacy in Yemen), Brigadier General Turki Al-Maliki, announced yesterday that air defenses intercepted and destroyed a flying “cruise” missile in the vicinity of the airport. In a statement, he said, “A fire resulted from the attack, and the site is being directly managed by the competent authorities,” and confirmed that an attack occurred involving an unidentified projectile on Terminal 4 of King Khalid International Airport.
The Saudi General Authority of Civil Aviation announced that King Khalid International Airport was subjected to a new attack yesterday afternoon. It confirmed that injuries resulted from the new attack and stated that it is completing the assessment of damages and verifying the safety of facilities.
The spokesperson had previously emphasized that the cowardly terrorist attack carried out by the Houthi militia two days prior on one of the passenger terminals at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, and the resulting deaths and injuries among civilians, including passengers and airport staff, constitute a complete war crime under international humanitarian law and its customary rules, and represent an abhorrent act that contradicts principles, values, and ethics. He added, “Therefore, the Joint Forces Command of the Coalition will respond to this terrorist attack decisively and in accordance with international humanitarian law and its customary rules.”
This came after the General Authority of Civil Aviation announced that King Khalid International Airport was attacked two days prior, amid ongoing blatant attacks targeting civil aviation facilities in the Kingdom. The Authority clarified that operational operations at the airport were temporarily suspended pending the completion of damage assessments and verification of facility safety.
Later, the Authority issued a detailed statement regarding the brutal attack that targeted the airport yesterday afternoon, stating that “it resulted in the death of 12 people, including four Saudi nationals and residents of the following nationalities: two Bangladeshi, one American, one Egyptian, one Jordanian, one Syrian, one Palestinian, and one Sudanese. It also resulted in 309 other injuries.”
The Authority noted in its statement that the injured “are receiving necessary medical care in several hospitals, including critical cases,” and added that the attack caused material damages that are being tallied.
Brigadier General Al-Maliki had previously announced in separate statements the interception and destruction of a drone in the Eastern Region, and the interception and destruction of a ballistic missile launched by the Houthi terrorist militia in Al-Kharj Province. He also reported that a projectile fell in the vicinity of King Fahd International Airport in Dammam.
