Minister of Development: Environmental protection is a shared responsibility and a key pillar for improving quality of life

State Minister for Development and Sustainability, Dr. Reem Al-Faleh, participated in the 28th meeting of the Committee of Ministers Responsible for Environmental Affairs of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, held in the Bahraini capital of Manama, reflecting Kuwait’s commitment to supporting and enhancing the trajectory of joint Gulf environmental action.

In a statement to KUNA, Al-Faleh emphasized the importance of continuing to strengthen cooperation and coordination among GCC member states in environmental and developmental fields, highlighting that shared challenges and common interests underscore the need for unified efforts. She noted that such collaboration contributes to the Council’s efforts to achieve sustainable development, protect the environment, and safeguard natural resources.

Al-Faleh stated that Kuwait places special importance on joint Gulf environmental initiatives, driven by its conviction that environmental protection is a shared responsibility and a fundamental pillar for sustainable development and improving quality of life. She added that addressing environmental and climate challenges requires integrated efforts, enhanced cooperation, and the exchange of expertise among GCC member states.

She further remarked that the shared geography, interests, and future of GCC countries form a solid foundation for continuing to develop joint Gulf cooperation, building on achieved collaborations and accomplishments to meet the aspirations of the Council’s countries and peoples for a more sustainable future.

During the sidelines of the meeting, Al-Faleh, alongside the ministers responsible for environmental affairs in GCC countries, had the honor of meeting Bahrain’s Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa.

Al-Faleh expressed her deep appreciation for this gracious meeting, affirming that it reflects the high level of attention and support accorded to joint Gulf cooperation, and embodies the deep-rooted fraternal bonds uniting GCC member states, as well as their shared commitment to advancing cooperation and integration in line with the aspirations of the Council’s countries and peoples.

In this context, she commended the Kingdom of Bahrain, a sister nation, for hosting the meeting and its excellent organization, and expressed her appreciation for the efforts undertaken by the GCC Secretariat-General and member states to enhance the trajectory of joint Gulf environmental cooperation.

Al-Faleh reaffirmed that Kuwait will continue to support all initiatives that contribute to strengthening Gulf integration and consolidating joint action in environmental and developmental fields, thereby serving the common interests of GCC member states and preserving natural resources and the rights of future generations.
