Bahrain Condoles Saudi Arabia and Allied and Friendly Nations on Victims of Houthi Attack on King Khalid Airport

The Kingdom of Bahrain expressed its sincere condolences and heartfelt sympathies to Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Palestine, Sudan, the United States, and Bangladesh following the deaths of their nationals in the heinous attack carried out by the Houthi militia on King Khalid International Airport in the capital, Riyadh, on Sunday.

The Bahraini Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed, in a statement, Bahrain’s full solidarity with the brotherly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its complete support for all measures undertaken to safeguard its sovereignty, security, stability, and the protection of its citizens and residents on its territory.

It emphasized that the security of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is an integral part of Bahrain’s security and the collective security framework of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states, while extending condolences to the victims’ families and wishing the injured a speedy recovery.

The statement reiterated Bahrain’s strong condemnation and denunciation of this cowardly terrorist attack, which reflects the Houthi militia’s continued targeting of civilians, civilian infrastructure, and airports, and constitutes a blatant violation of the sovereignty of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the principles of international law and international humanitarian law.

It also renewed Bahrain’s call upon the UN Security Council to take urgent action and adopt decisive and deterrent measures to halt Houthi terrorist attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure, put an end to their threats to the security and safety of air and maritime navigation, hold perpetrators and their supporters accountable, and ensure full implementation of relevant Council resolutions, particularly Resolutions 2216, 2722, and 2817.

In the same context, the statement called on the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and relevant international organizations to fulfill their responsibilities in safeguarding the security and safety of international civil aviation, thereby ensuring the protection of civilians and the preservation of regional and international peace and security.

It is worth noting that Saudi Arabia’s General Authority of Civil Aviation announced that the attack on King Khalid International Airport on Saturday resulted in 12 deaths and 309 injuries.
