UN Envoy to Yemen strongly condemns Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia

UN Special Envoy to Yemen Hans Grundberg on Sunday strongly condemned the attacks carried out by Houthi militias on civilian infrastructure in Saudi Arabia, including the strike on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh that killed 12 people and injured more than 300 others.

In a statement received by the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), Grundberg said the recent attacks followed earlier strikes on Riyadh and Abha airports, which also resulted in civilian casualties.

He warned that these attacks constitute a serious escalation and a grave threat to regional security, while perpetuating the cycle of violence and complicating peace efforts in Yemen. He called on the Houthis to halt the attacks and respect international humanitarian law, including the prohibition on targeting civilians and civilian objects.

Saudi Arabia’s General Authority of Civil Aviation had announced that 12 people were killed and 309 others injured in the attack on King Khalid International Airport on Saturday.
