Kuwait International Bank (KIB) announced its participation in the annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group, hosted by Bangkok, Thailand, from October 12 to 18, 2026. The event will see broad participation from central bank governors, finance ministers, development officials, policymakers, leaders of financial institutions and the private sector, academics, and representatives of international organizations from around the world.
The KIB delegation is led by Raed Jawad Bu Khamsin, Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, and includes KIB Board Members Marzouq Khaled Al-Marzouq and Abdulrazzaq Salah Al-Mutawa; Ahmed Bader Al-Farsi, Board Member of KIB Invest; Maab Al-Qasim, General Manager of International Banking and Financial Institutions at KIB; Mohammed Al-Duwailah, General Manager of Treasury; and Fahad Al-Sarhan, Chief Executive Officer of the Vice Chairman and CEO’s Office.
Commenting on the occasion, Raed Jawad Bu Khamsin, Vice Chairman and CEO of KIB, stated that the bank’s participation in this year’s IMF and World Bank Group annual meetings stems from the significance of this international platform, which offers an opportunity to track key global economic and financial developments and exchange views and expertise with a select group of policymakers, financial and banking leaders from various countries. He emphasized that the value of participation extends beyond mere attendance, encompassing engagement in specialized discussions on markets and the financial sector, gauging trends in the global banking industry, and learning about best practices and experiences in financing, investment, digital transformation, and risk management. He added that the bank will also explore cooperation and partnership opportunities that can support business growth and expand the horizons of the Kuwaiti banking sector.
Bu Khamsin noted that the timing of the meetings adds further importance to the participation, given the rapid transformations underway in the global economy and financial markets, as well as the new opportunities and challenges posed by successive technological and artificial intelligence developments to the financial sector. He clarified that the meeting agenda allows for the monitoring and discussion of a range of issues gaining increasing prominence on the global financial stage, including financial stability, artificial intelligence and the global economy, the future of financial infrastructure, cross-border payments and cybersecurity, sovereign risks, as well as developments in Asian labor markets and the capacity to enhance resilience in the face of global shifts.
He affirmed that such gatherings enable banking institutions to compare their experiences with global trends, understand transformations reshaping customer and market needs, and help them develop their products and services while better preparing for upcoming opportunities and challenges.
The annual meetings of the IMF and the World Bank Group bring together government, banking, and financial leaders, as well as representatives of the private sector, civil society, and international organizations, to discuss global economic and financial issues, development challenges, and ways to find practical solutions. The 2026 meetings will be held at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center in Bangkok, reflecting Asia’s growing role in shaping the global agenda for economic and financial stability.
