Arab and international rejection of continued Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia and targeting of civilian infrastructure

Omani Foreign Minister Badr Al Busaidi expressed the Sultanate of Oman’s solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its rejection of attacks on civilian facilities or any infringement on the security and safety of civilians. The Omani Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a press release that this position was conveyed during a telephone conversation with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan, in which the two ministers exchanged views on regional developments. They emphasized the importance of continuing coordination and consultation, and enhancing efforts to contain tensions and consolidate de-escalation, thereby paving the way for political dialogue and promoting the resolution of all issues and crises through peaceful means to safeguard the security and stability of the region.

For its part, Egypt strongly condemned yesterday’s attacks on Saudi Arabia, which targeted King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh and a Saudi Arabian Airlines aircraft. The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed in a statement Egypt’s complete rejection of these attacks as a blatant violation of international law, reaffirming its full solidarity with the Kingdom in all measures it takes to protect its security, sovereignty, and the safety of its citizens. The statement affirmed that such aggressions and attacks on air navigation undermine international and regional security and stability. The ministry expressed its sincere condolences and sympathies to the Kingdom’s government and people, and wished a speedy recovery for the injured.

Turkey, for its part, affirmed its full solidarity with Saudi Arabia. The Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a press release that it strongly condemns the attacks by the so-called Houthi militias on Abha Airport and King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, expressing its condolences to the victims’ families and wishing a speedy recovery for the injured. The ministry stressed the urgent need for an immediate halt to attacks targeting civilians and infrastructure, which contribute to escalating tensions in the region. It reaffirmed Turkey’s complete solidarity with Saudi Arabia and renewed its call for resolving existing disputes through dialogue and diplomatic means.

Switzerland also expressed its rejection of the recent attacks on the Kingdom, including those targeting civilian infrastructure, describing them as unacceptable. In a post on its X (formerly Twitter) account, the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs called for efforts to prevent further escalation, emphasizing the necessity of respecting international humanitarian law. It stressed the imperative to comply with the prohibition of attacks against civilians and civilian objects in accordance with the rules of international humanitarian law.
