Bayern Munich conceded the fastest goal in Bundesliga history in their match against Augsburg on Saturday, just eight seconds after kickoff, following a serious passing error by their goalkeeper, Manuel Neuer. From the opening kickoff, Bayern’s Colombian striker Luis Díaz passed the ball back to Neuer, who controlled it with his right foot. Under pressure from Augsburg’s Robin Druyve, the 2014 World Cup winner attempted to clear the ball with his right foot, but the Augsburg forward intercepted it and scored into the empty Bayern net after only eight seconds. Druyve thus scored the fastest goal in Bundesliga history, beating the previous record of nine seconds by one second. The prior record had been shared by Kevin Volland with Hoffenheim since August 2015 (also against Bayern) and Karim Bellarabi with Bayer Leverkusen since August 2014 (against Borussia Dortmund).
