Lebanon, Mauritania, and Romania Condemn Houthi Attacks on King Khalid and Abha Airports, Resulting in Casualties
Lebanon, Mauritania, and Romania strongly condemned the Houthi attacks that targeted Abha International Airport and King Khalid International Airport, resulting in the deaths and injuries of citizens and residents of various nationalities.
In a statement, Lebanon’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates said that “targeting civilian and vital facilities and endangering the lives of civilians constitutes a blatant violation of international law and international humanitarian law, and poses a serious threat to the security and stability of the region.” It reaffirmed Lebanon’s full solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its steadfast support for safeguarding the Kingdom’s sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity, as well as protecting its citizens and residents, and its firm rejection of any aggression targeting the Kingdom.
For its part, Romania’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs deemed such attacks against civilians and vital infrastructure “completely unacceptable,” expressed its sincere condolences to the victims’ families, and wished a speedy recovery to all the injured. It reaffirmed its full solidarity with the Kingdom and renewed its strong support for all efforts aimed at de-escalating current tensions in the region.
For its part, Mauritania’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a statement, reiterated its condemnation of the Houthi militia’s targeting of King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh and Abha International Airport, and the resulting casualties and damage. It expressed its condolences to the victims’ families and wished a speedy recovery to the injured. It reaffirmed its position “rejecting all forms of violence and terrorism,” emphasizing the need for regional and international efforts to unite in order to halt such aggressions and prevent their recurrence. It also affirmed its support for the Kingdom in all measures it takes to protect its security and the safety of its citizens and residents.
