Prime Minister Dr. Nawaf Salam thanked European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas, in the presence of the EU Ambassador to Lebanon, Sandra Do Val, and the accompanying delegation, for the EU’s continued support for Lebanon, reaffirming the government’s commitment to implementing reforms and strengthening state institutions.

During the meeting at the Saeb Salam Presidential Palace, the discussion also covered developments in the south and the importance of advancing the implementation of the trilateral framework based on the principles of reciprocity and phased implementation, with a clear timeline and a verification mechanism for the fulfillment of commitments.

The importance of maintaining an international presence after the expiration of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon’s (UNIFIL) mandate was also addressed, along with the need for continued international support for the Lebanese Armed Forces to enable them to extend state authority across the entire territory, ensure stability, and facilitate the return of displaced residents.

In a meeting with U.S. Senator James Lankford, in the presence of U.S. Ambassador to Lebanon Michel Issa and the accompanying delegation, the discussion focused on developments in Lebanon and the region, particularly the situation in the south, and ways to advance the implementation of the trilateral framework. Prime Minister Salam stressed the necessity of establishing a clear timeline for the implementation of mutual commitments and setting up a verification mechanism, based on the principles of reciprocity and phased implementation.

The discussion also highlighted the importance of continued U.S. support for the Lebanese Armed Forces to enable them to carry out their duties and extend state authority across the entire territory, as well as support for the return, recovery, and reconstruction processes in areas affected by the war.
