The Ministry of Interior announced that the Criminal Security Sector, represented by the General Directorate of Criminal Investigations, has arrested suspects in two separate cases. The first case involves drug trafficking, while the second concerns operating unlicensed activities and possessing state-subsidized food supplies. These arrests are part of ongoing security efforts to combat crime and apprehend lawbreakers.
The Ministry clarified that in the first case, the Criminal Investigations Department of Al-Farwaniya Governorate, represented by the Sabah Al-Nasser Criminal Investigations Office, arrested a Sri Lankan national working as a driver in a private residence. This followed intelligence reports indicating he was selling drugs in the Al-Aridya area. Investigations and CCTV footage review revealed that he distributed drugs while delivering furniture for his employer, exploiting his job to avoid suspicion.
The statement added that he was arrested in possession of bags containing methamphetamine. Following his cooperation and in coordination with the homeowner, additional quantities were found inside his room at the house where he works. Financial transfers totaling 6,573 Kuwaiti Dinars to individuals in Sri Lanka were also seized. The suspect confessed to possessing the seized substances with the intent to traffic and sell them, in collaboration with a person outside the country.
The seized items included:
- 469.1 grams of methamphetamine, distributed in bags and wraps of various sizes
- 0.7 grams of marijuana
- One scale
- A cash amount of 285.950 Kuwaiti Dinars
- Financial transfers valued at 6,573 Kuwaiti Dinars
The Ministry of Interior urged families and employers to monitor domestic workers and ensure that their employment nature or the residences where they work are not used to engage in prohibited or criminal activities. It also called for reporting any suspicious behavior to the relevant authorities.
Regarding the second case, the Criminal Investigations Department of Al-Ahmadi Governorate arrested a Bangladeshi national working at a gas station, after investigations confirmed intelligence regarding his unlicensed activities. He was apprehended while exchanging and converting currencies for travelers without a license. A search of his residence uncovered state-subsidized food supplies. It was also revealed that he was selling cigarettes and printing papers and documents for travelers arriving in and departing from the country, without obtaining the necessary licenses from the competent authorities.
The seized items in the second case included:
- 1,067 Kuwaiti Dinars
- 5,021 Saudi Riyals
- 10 Qatari Riyals
- 8 Bahraini Dinars
The suspects and seized items have been referred to the competent authorities to take the necessary legal actions against them.
