Barcelona seeks new victory... Real Madrid faces Villarreal

Barcelona seek another victory when they host Getafe at the Spotify Camp Nou tomorrow, Saturday, in the eighth round of the Spanish La Liga. The Catalan club enters the match atop the league table with a perfect record of 21 points from seven consecutive wins, while Getafe sit in 11th place with eight points. Barcelona manager Hansi Flick aims to maintain his unbeaten run and extend his side’s lead at the summit ahead of a congested fixture list that includes strong Champions League encounters and the anticipated El Clásico against Real Madrid on the 25th. Catalan training sessions saw a gradual return of several international players, such as Jules Koundé and João Cancelo, while doubts remain over the full fitness of Brazilian star Raphinha, who is in exceptional scoring form (14 goals and three assists this season) but is training separately to avoid rushing his return. Meanwhile, fourth-placed Real Madrid, with 15 points, prepare for a tough and crucial clash against ninth-placed Villarreal, who have eight points. The Spanish giants, under Portuguese manager José Mourinho, aim to regain their winning momentum and close the gap on league leaders Barcelona, while Villarreal, led by Iñigo Pérez, look to secure a positive result away at their Madrid stronghold. Real Madrid are buoyed by the full fitness of French star Kylian Mbappé following his recovery from knee pain, with Federico Valverde and Ibrahima Konaté also potentially available. However, the club will be without young defender Dejan Halilović due to suspension, and are missing Raúl Asencio, Ferland Mendy, and Rodrygo through injury. In other matches, Rayo Vallecano face Athletic Bilbao, and Deportivo Alavés take on Atlético Madrid.
