Alaa Khalifa: Education Minister Dr. Sayed Jalal Al-Tabtabaee issued a decision regarding the determination of the workplace of members of the teaching and administrative staff in general education schools upon their return from long leaves, in accordance with the school’s operational needs.

The Ministry of Education clarified in a press statement that there is no absolute legal obligation compelling the Educational Affairs Sector to retain an employee in their designated workplace, location, or department after returning from a long leave, provided that the transfer or change decision complies with legal regulations and does not constitute a disguised punishment.

It noted that the Educational Affairs Sector possesses broad discretionary authority to organize the workflow and distribute employees in accordance with the public interest and operational requirements. It pointed out that an employee’s absence during a long leave, such as maternity leave, study leave, or extended medical leave, may necessitate filling the vacancy with a replacement or restructuring the department to meet operational needs.

The ministry emphasized that such measures are taken within the regulatory powers granted to the Educational Affairs Sector, ensuring the continuity of work and the smooth functioning of public services while adhering to legal regulations governing transfer decisions and the determination of workplaces.

The ministry added that the organization and distribution of teaching and administrative staff are linked to the actual operational needs of schools and departments, enabling the competent authority to address changes resulting from prolonged absences and ensuring the continuous performance of tasks and responsibilities assigned to various sectors of the educational establishment.

On another note, Education Minister Dr. Sayed Jalal Al-Tabtabaee discussed with the Ambassador of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to Kuwait, Sinen Al-Majali, during a meeting, ways to enhance educational cooperation and exchange experiences and practices to support efforts to develop education in the two brotherly countries.

The Ministry of Education stated in a press release that the meeting addressed several topics of mutual interest and the opportunities available to broaden the scope of partnership between educational institutions in the two countries, serving the aspirations of both sides.

Both sides affirmed, according to the statement, the deep, historic, and firmly rooted fraternal relations between the State of Kuwait and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, characterized by close ties and continuous cooperation, and their commitment to building upon these relations to advance educational and teaching efforts and achieve shared aspirations.
