Japan: Kuwait is a Reliable Partner and Friend, Not Just a Key Energy Supplier

Kuwait’s Ambassador to Japan, Dr. Mohammed Al-Hajjari, presented his credentials as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Kuwait to Japan during a meeting with Keiichi Hara, Chief of Protocol at the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, at the ministry’s headquarters in the capital, Tokyo.

In a statement received by KUNA, Kuwait’s Embassy in Japan said that Ambassador Al-Hajjari emphasized the depth of Kuwait-Japan relations during the meeting. He noted that this year marks the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, which witnessed a qualitative leap by rising to the level of a comprehensive strategic partnership during the historic visit of Kuwait’s Crown Prince, Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled, to Japan in May 2025.

He also referred to the recent visit of Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Jara Al-Jaber to Japan last August and the clear objectives that emerged from it to enhance bilateral cooperation, affirming his commitment to continuing work with the Japanese side to translate these directions into practical steps across various fields.

For his part, Ambassador Hara welcomed Ambassador Al-Hajjari, praising his diplomatic expertise and affirming that, for Japan, Kuwait represents a reliable partner and friend, not merely a key energy supplier.

The statement conveyed Ambassador Hara’s aspiration to continue strengthening bilateral relations and increasing the frequency of high-level visits and communications between the two countries.
